About The Luminary Masquerade

A STORY IN FOUR CITIES

From Seoul candlelight to Boulder's Sundance nights

The Luminary Masquerade began in 2010 in Seoul, South Korea, where founder Felipe Mosqueda Yáñez was teaching English and building a new community, one social evening at a time. What started as a way to meet people soon became something more — an evening dressed up in beauty, in service of a cause: orphanages, cancer associations, and local charitable work.

The gatherings travelled with him — first through Mexico, then to a home base in Denver, Colorado, where the masquerade lent its evenings to Children’s Hospital Colorado and charity: water, and helped inspire Mile High Wine Tours along the way.

Now the masquerade returns once more, reimagined for Boulder’s Sundance-season energy — a cinematic evening of art, music, mystery, and performance, where guests, artists, sponsors, and community partners gather to celebrate beauty and meaningful impact.

“I wanted a reason for strangers to become friends — and for that friendship to do some good in the world.”
